Machinist Apprentice

**NOVA MACHINE WORKS** has been growing for the past 30 years, supplying parts to the mining industry, for sample testing and R&D. With CNC machines, laser plate cutter and a manual machine and fabrication shop we are capable of a large array of custom machining jobs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings or study the parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Select appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Operate and maintains lathe and milling machines.
**Skills/experience useful for this role**:
- Training or experience with metal machining and CNC machine operation
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes, best practices, and methods.
- Working knowledge and dexterity use of tools such as calipers, micrometer.
- Generally, good hands-on skills - experience in making things at work or for hobby (tell us about it)
- A positive energy and friendly personality (we can teach most things but not this)
- A high degree of job responsibility to get work done.
