Environment Technician

Reporting to the Lead, Environment, the Environment Technician is responsible for monitoring and assessment in support of ongoing management and compliance of local and regional permits at Greenhills Operations. This role is on a 4x4 schedule rotation of day shifts.

This person has outstanding interpersonal skills and can engage, build, and maintain internal and external relationships. Equally strong abilities in working both independently and as part of a team, while remaining positive and motivated in outdoor, remote locations are vital.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Be responsible for multiple, broad based sampling and monitoring programs and collection of groundwater, surface water, sediment, and biota samples.
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate monitoring and sample collection equipment and instrumentation
- Understand permits and associated requirements
- Carry out environmental data entry, review, and management
- Lead field investigations and inspections
- Coordinate contractor management to ensure work is being conducted safely and in accordance with the project scope
- Supervise environmental projects, such as remediation, maintenance of pollution control infrastructure or programs, and field sampling programs
- Develop and review Environmental Protection Plans, field level risk assessments, and other risk management tools
- Analyze field and analytical data to draft technical reports and communications

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or Diploma in a related industry area, such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Technology or in an Earth Sciences field, such as Biology, Geography, Forestry, and Agriculture
- Experience in environmental compliance or monitoring in the resource industry
- Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, standards, and effective industry practices
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®
