Lennox Island First Nation owns an 18-acre lease in the Lennox Island Channel. The Farm Manager would be responsible for developing the production plan for this lease in collaboration with an Advisory Committee and for ensuring the production plan is implemented. The Farm Manager would manage the labourers to ensure day to day tasks are being accomplished to meet the production plan and would report progress back to the Committee on a regular basis. The Farm Manager would be expected to have competency in the following areas and would ensure labourers are meeting these industry standards:

- How to accurately measure and fill seed into oyster bags and deploy them to cages / lease.
- How to harvest market sized oysters and restock inventory using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- How to monitor oyster growth and health.
- Work in both the farm and boat settings across multiple locations.
- Raise and sink gear in accordance with industry standards.
- Aid in repairing gear as needed both on land and on water.
- Take direction from the Committee and pass that direction on to staff.
- Maintain a clean/organized site and ensure all equipment is maintained on a regular basis.
- Develop standard operating procedures and ensure staff are trained and following the SOPs.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum five years working on an oyster farm(s).
- Strong communication and human resource management skills.
- Competency in MS Office, notably Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Marketing, branding and sales experience an asset.

**Experience**:
This position offers the opportunity to grow with the operation. Currently, Lennox Island owns 18 acres and a shellfish hatchery. Once the 18-acre lease is operating efficiently, it would be the intent to expand into more acreage in a slow, methodical way to ensure management and staff are able to grow at a sustainable pace. But long-term growth is the long-term plan. The Farm Manager must have a minimum of at least three years’ experience in the management of an oyster farm(s). This experience should include all facets of operations such as sinking / raising, deploying moorings / lines, making bags, deploying seed, tumbling, grading, harvesting and, processing.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
