**Job description**

This position assumes a role in planning, directing, and developing clinical standards to promote quality care. The responsibilities include meeting and adhering to professional standards, complying with organizational and corporate policies and procedures, supporting corporate and organizational missions, goals, and values, promoting teamwork among associates and fostering positive tenant outcomes. Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills are a must as well as the ability to work well with others and be sensitive to their problems, concerns and goals. Emergency ‘On Call’ will be shared with management team.

**EDUCATION**
- Must hold a current Care Aide with BC care aide Registry.
- Five years Gerontological experience preferred. It is an expectation that Managers will pursue ongoing education.

DETAILED FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS
- Supervise care staff daily to ensure excellent care is delivered to residents
- Fundamental understanding of Select Senior Services policy and procedures.
- Interprets nursing and care philosophy and establishes goals and objectives.
- Protects interests of employees and the company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws and regulations.
- Assist with reviews, evaluations, and implementation of policies.
- Assist with coaching and disciplining and possible termination of care staff as required. following HEU and SSS policies.
- Assist with planning, organizing and direction of care delivery in conformance with established company policy, law and governmental regulatory agencies.
- Ensures that resident care plans are maintained and updated when there is a care change.
- Enter new residents in POC system and print daily POC report for missing documenting to follow with care staff.
- Assist with organizing and administering orientation with all new care staff employees.
- Explain and review all relevant policies and procedures with all care staff employees.
- Complete ‘Rounds’ to each neighborhood at least 2 times daily. Check communication books, talk with staff and residents for input, follow up with any care concerns immediately
- Be aware of onsite safety and environmental requirements. (OH&S)
- Oversee and administer monthly education for care staff in consultation with Director of Care.
- Input with employee performance appraisals.
- Schedule and attend meetings (OH&S, RCA,) in conjunction with the Director of Care.
- Update Care Plans accordingly
- Liaises with families in conjunction with Director of Care
- Part of new resident move in process
- Assist with investigations for Serious Incidents and liaise with Director of Care to prepare reports for Licensing.
- Mentor and monitor the care staff on care issues (Including: - prevention of pressure sores, specimen collection, incident reports, behaviour monitoring, sleep charts, falls etc.)
- Ensures all lift equipment is maintained and safe for use.
- Ensure excellent direct care is being maintained through teaching, mentoring, education to care staff
- Completes care audits as per audit schedule.
- Care staff replacement
- Daily tracking of direct care hours in conjunction with Director of Care
- Provides input for daily report around care or staff issues to Director of Care
