FotsCanada is an Ontario based company operating in the telecommunications industry for the past 30 years.

We are currently looking for Fiber Optic Splicers to join our high performing Fiber Splicing team.

**Duties and Responsibilities** **includes but not limited to**:

- Install and troubleshooting of these technologies (XGpon, EXSpon, Eon networks, Ftth networks, Fttb networks, Fttx networks, Rf networks, Ymax6).
- Install, remove, maintain, and repair aerial and underground fiber lines and other telecommunication transmission and distribution lines, cables and associated hardware.
- Splice, troubleshoot and repair various types and sizes of fibre optic cables and links.
- Fusion Splice inside existing buildings and new construction MDU environments.
- Prepare tight-buffered and loose tube fibre Optic cables for splicing operations.
- Inspect and test Fiber optics cables for transmission characteristics and to locate faults.
- Install splice boxes, patch panels and point of entry/access devices.
- Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures or work in confined spaces such as, tunnels and
- Manholes.
- Proficient in analyzing and performing testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLs and documenting.
- Communicate with other workers to co-ordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments.
- Documenting and reporting on completed telecommunication work.
- Coordinating the execution of a safe work environment utilizing Book 7 training and use of police assistance to
- ensure public safety.
- Participate in the development of safety processes such as Working at Heights and Confined Space.
- Perform other duties as required

**Requirements**:

- Min 3 years of splicing experienc
- Proficient in Chromatic Dispersion testing
- Proficient in Polarized Mode Dispersion testing
- Proficient in Ethernet Sam testing and Bert testing local LAN and WAN
- Proven ability to use an Optical Time Domain Reflector (OTDR) efficiently.
- Strong analysis skills for analyzing and performing testing utilizing Power Meter/ Light Sources
- Must know the basic fiber color codes.
- Must be familiar with manufacture specification for splicing components.
- Working in public transit ways
- Working knowledge and skilled in working in confined spaces.
- Reading and writing English
- Must have a valid driver's license three months after start date.
- Demonstrates effective decision-making skills under limited supervision
- Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
- Demonstrates commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and emergency call outs as required
- Willing to travel (most of the work is in York and Durham Regions, but some projects can be in different municipalities)
- Should have basic computer skills
