The Okotoks Stingrays Summer Swim Club (OSSSC) has been in operation since 1982. We are a competitive summer swim club affiliated with the Alberta Summer Swimming Association (ASSA). The Okotoks Stingrays Summer Swim Club provides members with opportunities to develop and improve the four competitive strokes, and to compete with other swimmers and clubs in Alberta. The club provides a team environment while focusing on individual swim skills that assist each swimmer in achieving personal improvement and success.
Our season runs from May to August each year. We have approximately 70 competitive swimmers each season ranging in age from 5 to 17 years old. We are looking for Coaches who are ambitious, ready to learn, and looking to improve their coaching skills.
**Stingrays Swim Coach** **Eligibility**
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Meet the ASSA Coach Compliance requirements
- Be registered with a Swim Alberta affiliated Swim Club or a Swim Alberta recognized provincial program
- Agree and adhere to all Swim Alberta’s governing documents
**Coaches will be expected to**:
- Coordinate competitive programs for swimmers aged 5 to 17 years
- Work with coaching staff and the Club Board to create a positive learning environment for our swimmers
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the ins and outs of stroke correction - how to break down all four strokes for the highest rate of future success to each individual swimmer
- Motivate and prepare young athletes or teams for competitive events
- Group and behavior management in all ages of swimmers
- Participate in coaching clinic instruction
- Analyze and evaluate athletes' and/or team's performance
- Observe and evaluate prospective athletes' skills and performance
- Communication with the Club Board, Head Coach and coaching staff, swimmers, and parents as needed
- Assist swimmers at swim meets
- Current Criminal record check
- Child Abuse Registry check
- Willing to travel

Practices occur at Okotoks Recreation Centre and generally run Monday to Thursday between 4:30-8:30 pm. Swim meets run on some Friday afternoons and mostly Saturdays (7am-5pm) from early June to August. Regional and Provincial swim meets at the end of the season include Sundays.
Remuneration: Will be dependent upon experience and credentials.
