This is a 4 month co-op term starting May 2023.

**The Environmental Co-op will**:
Gain experience with FortisBC’s Environment Team.
Learn about mitigation techniques for hydroelectric operations (Generation and Transmission/Distribution).
Develop skills for report writing, environmental monitoring reporting and development of EMPs.
Gain experience in effective team and partner collaborations. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Environmental Program Lead, the Environmental Co-op will gain experience and provide support to the FortisBC Environment team by:
Assisting with ensuring that environmental risk mitigation measures are implemented at facilities in a manner that aligns with the FortisBC Environmental Management System (this may include providing support on environmental monitoring projects, assisting in the preparation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), and assisting with field checks to ensure environmental compliance).
Providing input regarding environmental best management practices.
Assisting with environmental activities that may be associated with Annual Planned Outages, Projects and Maintenance Activities, Impacts and Report Filing, and other programs.
Assisting in the preparation of documentation including environmental job plans, aids, summaries and reports for review. Requirements
Minimum 2nd year student, enrolled in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Sustainability or other related Environmental fields in the co-op program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Strong initiative and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with people throughout the company as well as external stakeholders.
Develop collaborative relationships and manage inquiries in an educated and professional manner.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
An ability to work independently under minimum supervision.
Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.
Valid BC driver's license. Additional Information
