**Test and Examination Invigilator/Presider, Student Accessibility Services (Temporary/Casual)**

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at McMaster University provides support services and accommodations to students with disabilities to ensure that they have equal access to educational opportunities and academic success. The department offers a range of services, including academic accommodations, transition programming, assistive technology, learning strategies, test, and exam accommodations.

The Tim Nolan Testing Centre is recruiting Invigilators to support the accommodated test and exams operation of SAS. The Tim Nolan Testing Centre is in the McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC) basement, room B101, with operational hours from 8:00 am - 10:15 pm Monday to Saturday.

The Tim Nolan Testing Centre is looking for mature, responsible, reliable, and committed individuals, who are fluent in English (spoken and written), to oversee and supervise tests and exams by following established regulations for the integrity and security of the test/exam papers and academic integrity. Test and Examination Invigilators/Presiders are bound by the Academic Regulations as set by McMaster University policies.

**Main Duties**:

- Responsibility for security, confidentiality, administration, and supervision of tests and final exams.
- Distribute and collect test/exam papers, answer booklets, and associated materials at the beginning and end of each test or exam. Ensure completeness of test/exam package.
- Check test package for completeness based on accommodation requirements found on test/exam envelope and daily room sheets such as set-up testing seat with materials related assistive technology, aid, adjustable chair, noise cancelling headphones, etc.
- Supervise the admission of students into the test and exam rooms and help students find their assigned seat quietly and efficiently.
- Respond to student questions, and contact professors when needed.
- Ensure that seating plans are complete.
- Escort students to and from washroom facilities.
- Ensure adherence to test and exam regulations.
- Address and report any suspicious behaviour or cheating.
- Report and record incidents related to test/exam disruptions or behaviours that may impact academic integrity.
- Ensure the test or exam room is clear and tidied for the next time slot.
- Able to deal with difficult or urgent situations.
- Use sound judgement to respond and attend to difficult or urgent situations.
- Ability to read aloud, clearly, at a normal pace, and with good pronunciation.
- Make announcements at the start and end of tests and exams.

If you have volunteer or work experiences being a Reader or Scribe, the duties include all the above and specific duties as following:

- Aid students with reading and writing.
- Accurate typing skills are required for the role of Scribe and the ability to type only what the student is dictating.
- Ability to read clearly with good pronunciation for the role of Reader. Read only the words on the examination paper without changing or adding words or aiding the test/exam taker in selecting a response.

Incumbents must be able to handle stressful and demanding situations, problem solve, lift materials in boxes/bags (which may be a variety of sizes and weights), stand for prolonged periods of time, and work independently or as part of a team.

Incumbents must be able to work Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 10:15 pm. Shift hours are assigned based on operational need, decided by the number of tests/exams scheduled, and on the incumbent's availability. A minimum number of work hours cannot be guaranteed. Applicants must commit to working throughout the academic term and examination period.
