**Position**:

- Superintendent, Maintenance, Nunavut**Location and Reporting Structure**:
Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance this position will be a fly in
- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plans, coordinates, distributes, and evaluates the work of the Maintenance department;
- Identify, source and issue purchase request mechanical parts and components required for maintenance activities;
- Develops long range detailed plans, schedules, and procedures for the systematic preventative maintenance of all equipment.
- Prioritizes unscheduled repairs in a manner that maximizes the cost efficiency of other site operations;
- Work with the Manager, Maintenance to ensure department activities are within budgets and scheduled timelines;
- Reviews progress of work and compares the actual results with the planned results and initiates corrective action as required;
- Provides input into shop layout to ensure that the most effective arrangement of maintenance facilities and equipment is obtained;
- Trains employees and installs work procedures to improve the efficiency of maintenance operations;
- Studies and develops methods of maintenance and periodically revises the program to improve the quality of the maintenance and reduce the cost; and
- Records maintenance equipment logs, develops preventative maintenance schedules to minimize loss of production, manage inventories and keeps an equipment availability record (record utilization time).

**Desired Competencies and Requirements**:

- Seven (7) years of experience in maintenance of mining heavy equipment with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience working in a remote mine site in Arctic conditions is required.
- A Red Seal interprovincial trade certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET), or an equivalent Nunavut Blue Seal designation, supplemented with managerial, business, and financial course work.
