As a User Experience Specialist, you will be part of the Digital Services and Data Management Team and play a key role in developing and implementing user research and testing program to discover the voice of the Region’s community. You will support the development and implementation of Halton’s Digital Design Standards based on Ontario Design Standards and industry best practices. Using design thinking approach, you will be responsible for designing consistent, simple yet elegant user and customer experiences on all channels including website, portal, telephone, in-person, and kiosks.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Support the development and implementation of a Halton’s Digital Design Standards.
- Work on end-to-end UX design process including user research, design, testing.
- Brainstorm creative concepts, sketch design ideas, explore user flows, and iterate based on internal/external feedback and inputs.
- Design innovative, simple and elegant user experiences on all channels including website, telephone, in-person, and kiosks.
- Translate concepts into wireframes, low and high-fidelity mock-ups that lead to intuitive user experiences providing a rough outline of the screen outlining key functionalities.
- Develop usability testing plans, conduct, observe and analyse usability testing sessions.
- Inspire and educate program areas on the benefits of user-centred design and design thinking.
- Keep up-to-date on best practices, UI designs and emerging technologies.
- Self-manage and organize assigned work within given timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Degree in Design (User Experience, Human Interaction, Product), Digital Communications or equivalent from a recognized College or University along with a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience.
- Expertise in human-centred design and in executing strategies that improve the overall user interactions with digital products and services.
- Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of user research and testing methods and techniques.
- Experience in creating user research and test plans, recruiting participants, facilitating and conducting user research and testing, analyzing findings and delivering insights.
- Well-developed skills in interaction design, visual design, UX writing, IA. Demonstrated experience creating design deliverables such as user journeys, user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, presentations, and reports.
- Ability to incorporate analytics, user feedback, performance metrics and other data to inform design decisions.
