**KEY FUNCTION**:
Responsible for performing routine sample preparation and metallurgical lab-testing of cast steel samples in support of the Melting operations. Reporting under the general direction of the Manager, Quality Assurance and Environmental Health and Safety.

**DUTIES**:

- Practice safe working techniques and adhere to environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Perform on a daily basis assisting in a variety of quality control tasks to evaluate the chemical composition of steel castings.
- Sample preparation including the use of a variety of abrasive saws, pedestal grinder, and surface grinders.
- Maintain lot traceability for each processing lot of material.
- Evaluate chemical analysis results for compliance to specification and communicate them to the corresponding melt station.
- Accurately compile data into simple data summaries and reports as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Education, Experience & Qualifications**
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Environmental Metallurgical Engineering Technologist from an accredited college or university.
- Training certificates in Health and Safety or related courses considered an asset.
- 1-2 years of Metallurgical Laboratory experience evaluating various metals and/or weld samples or chemical processing experience preferred. Relevant co-op experience accepted.

**Hourly Wage Rate**:
$28.54 / hour (Current 2024 rate)
