Who we are:
In 1927 a group of summer residents decided to purchase property on Grenadier Island for the purpose of building a golf course. Play began in 1928, with additional features added over the decades. Today, the Grenadier Island Country Club (GICC) is a private club that holds many competitive and just-for-fun golf, tennis and bocce events. A main component of the Club is its vibrant social life, which is family oriented and dates to its very beginning. Nowadays, themed Saturday night dinners are held in the clubhouse all summer long. Plus, several other events like boat shows and luncheons often take place. In between these scheduled events members and their guests can enjoy food and drinks on the deck. Both current and past members have made the Club what it is today: a gathering place for friends with common interests and goals, all working to further those ends. A small and dedicated staff maintains the grounds, facilities and heritage setting using sustainable practices and Integrated Pest Management to coexist with native species and neighboring Parks Canada sites.
Why Spend the Summer at GICC?
Employment at the Club is not just a job, it is an experience. For starters, you must not suffer a boring commute to reach it. Instead, a scenic boat ride is required to get there. While on the job employees can enjoy the scenic river views that only our grounds can provide. Coordinators spend much of their time interacting with the membership and their guests, many of whom come from interesting places and influential backgrounds. As such, GICC’s patio is a constant networking opportunity for those who wish to utilize it. Furthermore, employees of the Club may use the golf, tennis and bocce facilities and enjoy meals at events free of charge. Upon completion of the season, coordinators receive a retention bonus.
