**HOURS OF WORK**: Part-time 0.80 FTE Pro-rata position; Days

**WAGE RANGE**: Class 5- $35.99 - $43.18 per hour

The Safety Advisor - MSI Prevention participates in the design and implementation of systems that are compatible with the needs, abilities, and limitations of employees, in order to optimize comfort and efficiency, reduce musculoskeletal risk and incidence of injury, reduce absenteeism and facilitate safe return to work and accommodation of worker’s with temporary/permanent disabilities.

**PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
- Conduct workstation/job assessments to assess physical and mental demands and recommend ergonomic improvements.-
- Conduct Job Demands Analyses (JDAs) as a part of case management/return to work/injury prevention and make recommendations to mitigate the risk of injury/re-injury and facilitate a successful return to work.-
- Conduct incident/injury reviews in conjunction with the leader; review data and recommend/implement safety changes/improvements at both an individual level and corporate level-
- Staff education including patient handling education; orientation; staff teaching and coaching; injury prevention education-
- Engage in staff wellness initiatives that reduce the risk of injury/enhance well-being- _A full job description is available upon request from People Services_

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum required University degree, or degree in a health-related discipline (e.g. Kinesiology, Anatomy/Physiology), or a relevant related field with additional training related to ergonomics, Occupational Safety, and Adult Learning, preferred.-
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position or 3-5 years in a healthcare environment-
- Certification through CCPE (Canadian College for Certification of Professional Ergonomists) or Registered Kinesiologist preferred-
- Experience with patient mobilization-
- Experience with ergonomic assessments-
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, be flexible, and multi-task-
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently; self-awareness of own limitations and when other resources need to be engaged.-
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and tactfully both oral and written; ability to articulate problem(s), need(s), request(s) clearly and succinctly to health care practitioners, unions, etc.-
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- minimum proficiency is Word Level 1, Excel 1-
- Experience with electronic documentation as asset-
