CEWE is a private locally owned and operated general contractor based in British Columbia, specializing in road building and civil construction. Established in 1953, Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) provides all aspects of road construction including excavation, placing gravel, base and sub-base, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks and curbs, and of course asphalt paving and milling.

CEWE is seeking a Superintendent to join our team You will have proven experience in civil construction and road building. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent will execute construction leadership in the forms of job coordination and field supervision. The Superintendent will organize activities required in pre-construction, construction, site services and manpower.

**Overview**:
The Superintendent is responsible for managing the direct day-to-day on-site supervision of the labour force & field operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide construction management including budget and schedule, in combination with the Project Managers, Owners and Engineers to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget
- Ensure all activity to perform the work is in a productive, safe environment that follows JCCL safe work practices and safe work procedures
- Lead meeting with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing progression
- Mentor team members to ensure career development and growth
- Ability to forecast a project’s cost reports ensuring they are in line with the estimate
- Functions effectively as part of a team
- Excellent decision making/problem solving skills
- Knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, contracts, costs, and budgets.
- Support and abide by Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance into all aspects of planning and executing projects

**Experience, Skills and Knowledge**
- Post-Secondary education in a related discipline, or a combination of technical training
- Minimum five years supervisory experience of civil construction
- Proficient Microsoft office skills
- Solid understanding of construction industry practices, OBC, OHSA and WCB regulations and safety standards
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing all disciplines, internal employees and external sub-trades
- Commitment to hiring, mentoring, training, and retaining a focused team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through speaking to groups of employees on site, and communicating to a variety of stakeholders including clients, management and site employees
- A solid understanding of cost control and budget management
- A strong core value, understanding and approach to safety with a proven safety record.
- Proven ability to successfully manage job-site crew
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and surveys
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record

Pay: From $135,000.00 per year
