**A Day in the Life **

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Nursing Lab Coordinator is responsible for learning support to students in the development of clinical skills through direct student support and instruction. The incumbent develops, implements, and instructs the lab component of courses. The Assistant Lab Coordinator works collaboratively with the department, faculty, clinical instructors, and students in the provision of learning support.

**As the** **Nursing Lab Coordinator, you will**:

- Collaborate with faculty to design lab content for courses, ensuring it aligns with learning outcomes involving labs or simulations;
- Collaboratively develop and implement lab components, including clinical simulations for nursing students;
- Instruct students in virtual and in-person settings, focusing on facilitating learning and psychomotor skill development;
- Assist in managing online lab content using the Brock's learning management system;
- Participate in clinical simulations, taking on various roles and enhancing realism through props and moulage;
- Support students in skill review and practice, facilitating remediation when necessary;
- Create reports on remediation sessions, communicate with faculty, and provide progress reports to faculty and clinical instructors;
- Assist in identifying knowledge barriers, offer constructive feedback, and organize additional learning opportunities, including make-up lab sessions;
- Support lab tours, recruitment events, and equipment decisions;
- Maintain lab cleanliness, troubleshoot equipment, and report repair needs;
- Participate in accreditation processes, collaborate on projects, and attend meetings as required.

**What you need to Succeed**
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing;
- Currently registered (or eligible for same) as a RN and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience, preferably in in-patient acute or chronic care areas with demonstrated teaching experience;
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting simulation and lab equipment;
- Utilization of critical thinking and clinical expertise to design and facilitate clinical simulations for nursing programs;
- Confidence in demonstrating clinical skills to learners;
- Advanced communication skills, including active listening, clear explanation, and coaching abilities;
- Flexibility, enthusiasm for student learning, and strong support for colleagues;
- Strong planning and organizational skills, including time management and attention to detail;
- Demonstrates responsiveness, flexibility, and a commitment to ongoing professional development for enhanced performance in the role.

**Preferred or Asset Skills **
- Graduate degree in Nursing, Education, or a closely related field;
- Experience with simulated laboratory learning or certification(s) related to simulation-based learning; and
- Maintenance and care of simulation and medical equipment.

**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Grade (L), Salary Scale ($62,580-$107,280)*;
- Target Hiring Range: $62,580-$75,000
- This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.
