Detailed Overview: Under the general supervision of the Chief Power Engineer, performs repairs, maintenance and minor renovation of equipment and furnishings, and performs grounds keeping duties as required. Responsibilities:

- Performs electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment and appliances such as wheelchairs, stretchers, electric beds, toasters, vacuums and floor polishers by replacing circuit boards, replacing hydraulic pumps, performing safety checks on electrical appliances, cleaning, oiling and greasing and replaces such items as brushes, elements, bearings and filters.
- Performs minor electrical tasks such as replacing ballasts, light switches, electrical receptacles and cord caps.
- Removes and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, taps and toilets. Unplugs toilets and waste lines using hand and power augers.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks such as changing lamps, replacing filters, greasing and lubricating electrical beds, wheelchairs, stretchers and carts.
- Assists maintenance work/engineers and tradesmen by performing tasks related to the project at hand such as setting out materials, handling and receiving tools and equipment as requested.
- Applies paint and other finished by brush and roller. Repairs drywall surfaces for painting.
- Removes and repairs hospital furnishings and millwork such as counters, shelves, cupboards, walls, doors ceiling tiles and floor coverings.
- Performs labour work such as digging trenches and holes, performs clean-up duties such as wiping down machinery, sweeping and mopping work areas, cleaning roofs, gutters and drains.
- Mixes and applies building materials such as concrete and plaster. Recaulks window glazing and roof flashings.
- Assists in maintaining grounds and parking lots in winter by removing snow and ice. Operates tractor and applies salt and sand to sidewalks and roadways.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications**:Education and Experience**

Grade 10 plus two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
