Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary:
The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician is responsible for repair, overhaul, and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems and their component parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work from blueprints or verbal instructions to mount or place system components
- Install and calibrate related controls
- Start up systems, test lines to detect leaks, and record the readings taken to ensure that the system is functioning satisfactorily
- Complete maintenance work such as checking all parts of a system, lubricating moving parts and monitoring the refrigerant charge.
- When there is a malfunction, diagnose the problem and fix the unit by replacing or repairing controls, electric wiring or other parts.
- High School Diploma
- Red Seal Refrigeration Certificate or equivalent work history
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, comfortable in dealing with vendors, suppliers, and co-workers
- Experience working in facilities managing large Ammonia refrigeration packages
- Experience in troubleshooting systems, suggesting corrective actions and sourcing parts
- Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems would be an asset
- Pipe-fitting ability is an asset
- Able to work evenings and weekends when needed
