Interfaith Counselling Centre is situated in the rural community of New Hamburg serving the Township of Wilmot and the broader Waterloo Region, and the surrounding townships of Wellesley, Perth East, Blandford-Blenheim & East Zorra.
**JOB POSTING**
Currently ICC has an opening for a full-time or part time **Child/Youth Therapeutic Counsellor**. Reporting to the Clinical Director the Therapeutic Counsellor will provide counselling services to clients, make appropriate referrals to the community on behalf of clients and as needed, represent the agency in the community and follow ICC
Code of Ethics.
The Therapeutic Counsellor will be required to work one evening or weekend shift per week. Counselling services will be delivered from the office of ICC offering in person, telephone and/or video sessions.
The overall responsibility of this position is to ensure solid therapeutic treatment to clients in an empathetic and compassionate style using a trauma-informed and strength-based approach.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Generalist experienced with a variety of client populations and presenting concerns
- Experience working with Children/Youth 4-18 years of age.
- Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
- Solid organizational skills to maintain clinical files
- Experience with in-person, telephone, and video counselling.
- Understanding of the not-for-profit sector
- Familiar with community resources
Required Education and Certification
- Masters Degree - M.S.W., M.A, psychology, MTS or equivalent
- 3-5 years of post-Master’s Degree experience is required
- Current certification with the College of Social Work, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or other appropriate clinical organizations.
Competitive salary.
