**About The Job**:
**Location**: Edmonton, AB (with potential for travel)

**Period**: May - August 2023 (earlier start if available)

We are looking for an internship or co-op student with an interest and passion for environmental and biological systems to assist with execution of planned test demonstrations of H2nanO’s SolarPass wastewater treatment technology. This position is a minimum four-month internship starting in May, with the potential to start earlier if available. We are able to consider current undergraduate students and recent graduates.

You will work with a talented team of biologists, chemists, engineers, and technicians at H2nanO to help design test programs, execute on-site and field analytical operations, and support other technology development activities. You will be based in Edmonton assisting with on-site programs (90%) with the potential for travel to other field operating sites when required (10%). Your primary focus will be assisting our Environmental Scientist with execution of test programs to demonstrate integration of H2nanO’s SolarPass technology with wetlands systems for industrial wastewater treatment.

**Environmental Scientist Intern Roles**:

- Manage day-to-day activities for test programs. Prepare and maintain data reports and daily logs. Monitor the progress of treatment, including the visual health of plant-based biological systems.
- Collect and process water samples for analytical analysis. Complete onsite analytical testing and prepare samples for offsite analysis, including packaging and sample chain of custody generation.
- Assist with creation of standard operating procedures and safe work protocols. Participate in project safety hazard assessments and reviews.

**What You Will Learn**:

- Environmental project management at different phases of a program: planning, approval, construction/setup, operations, and demobilization.
- Hands on experience with novel chemical and biological treatment processes.
- Data collection and quality control skills.
- Proper health and safety procedures for sample collection and analysis.
- Professional documentation and communication.

**Preferred Experience and Skills**:
Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a college diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences or equivalent program.
- Practical experience working in environmental field programs.
- Meticulous attention to detail and data management skills.
- Previous experience or willingness to learn standard sampling collection and preparation techniques.
- Experience with basic plant care and maintenance.
- Knowledge of wetland systems including natural wetland water treatment mechanisms, plant propagation, and overall health metrics.
- Ability to work independently and problem solve basic issues with assistance from other experienced professionals when needed.
- Proven ability to self-manage, problem solve, and communicate effectively.
