In your capacity as a Wildlife Biologist, you will undertake and direct wildlife field assessment tasks serving a variety of clients, including provincial governments, industrial partners, and municipalities across Western Canada. Your specific field responsibilities will include conducting wildlife sweeps for construction projects, migratory bird nest surveys tailored for large construction and energy projects, and carrying out species-specific surveys, including but not limited to burrowing owls, sensitive raptors, yellow rails, common nighthawks, as well as breeding bird point counts and sensitive amphibian surveys. Additionally, your reporting responsibilities will involve the development of wildlife mitigation strategies and reports, conducting species at risk evaluations, and designing and overseeing wildlife survey and monitoring frameworks.

**Specifically, you will**
- Support and/or lead wildlife and aquatic field work and assessments involving pre-disturbance wildlife assessments, wildlife population monitoring, Migratory bird Nest sweeps.
- Provide biological monitoring and oversight for construction projects, restoration and reclamation implementation and maintenance.
- Research regional specific natural resources, survey requirements, and reporting needs.
- Prepare technical reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
- Analyze and interpret collected field data.
- Complete provincial loadform data submission for wildlife and fish survey inventories.
- Write wildlife assessment and monitoring reports and provide recommendations on sensitive wildlife habitat and how they impact construction related activities.
- Knowledge of the Migratory Birds Convention Act and Species at Risk Act and how it is applied to resource projects in western Canada.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Alberta Sensitive Species Inventory Guidelines.
- Knowledge of the Alberta Master Schedule of Standards and Conditions and how it is applicable to projects in Alberta.
- Act as technical and crew lead on wildlife related projects. This will involve managing field crews of 2-5 people.
- Help to design fisheries and water quality monitoring programs through western Canada.

**Qualifications Requirements**
- Registration with the College of Applied Biology (RPBio) and/or the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (PBiol)
- Experience managing and leading field crews ranging in size from 2 -5 crew members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Wildlife, Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, Reclamation, or a closely related field.
- Experience working in environmental consulting in western Canada.
- Th The ability to summarize and interpret collected fisheries, wildlife, and vegetation data.
- The ability to work long days in a field setting (12hrs)
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and how it relates to wildlife habitat and environmental mitigation planning including AER, EPA, and BCER.
- Field experience with ability to travel to job sites in remote locations including shift work which may include evenings and/or weekends.
- Work outside in adverse weather conditions
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail; Excellent communication and technical writing skills, and
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license (driving abstract required)
- Participate in and adhere to, corporate and client safety program

**Salary**: $34.00-$45.00 per hour
