**The Opportunity**

**The Firmware Manager **applies their extensive hands-on knowledge to manage and optimize a dedicated team of firmware engineers in the development of embedded real time systems. As a key member of the senior R&D team, this individual will help to drive the development of new systems and enhancements within an existing architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture including investigation of hybrid firmware/cloud systems. They will leverage knowledge, skills and experience to regularly interface with internal teams, senior management and external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.

**What you’ll do in this role**:

- Manage a team of firmware engineers including professional development, technical guidance, career development, mentoring to team members and staff recruiting.
- Guide the development process to ensure operational efficiency and developer velocity.
- Define the evolution of the firmware architecture to explore decomposing the Set Top Box software so that it functions in a hybrid firmware and cloud computing environment.
- Participate in product and project management decisions by providing schedule estimates and budget/costs.
- International travel (15 %).

**What you’ll need**:

- 5+ years of experience leading diverse technical teams of engineers (junior/senior software/hardware/cloud) including remote workers and teams.
- 10+ years of experience in real time embedded systems.
- Experience with Linux and Android operating systems.
- Familiarity with Amlogic SOC.
- Experience in the consumer electronics industry is desired.
- Experience in improving processes and methodologies to increase efficiency and long-term maintainability including agile and test-driven development.
- Video transcoding/IPTV expertise is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex projects from concept stage to requirement to design, implementation, testing and delivery while tracking documentation, scheduling and resources (in waterfall) as well as from use-case to user stories, sprints, retroactives (in agile)
- Experienced with various development tools (Github, Clubhouse, SQLite)
- Good understanding of firmware, mobile, hardware and cloud computing
- Working knowledge of C and C++

- Experience with OTA (over-the-air) antennas, ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0

- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
- Strong communication skills, analytical skills, with a thorough understanding of product development.
