Sooke Soccer Club is based in Sooke, British Columbia. The
club has a rich history of amateur soccer on Vancouver Island, providing soccer related
programming for players of all ages and abilities. The club is a member of the LISA for
youth soccer, and has adult teams that play in the LIWSA and the VISL.
Overview of the Position
Sooke Soccer Club is looking for a technical director (TD) to join our club. The TD
is the senior technical leader in the club and is responsible for the club’s overall
technical leadership and development. This role is primarily focused on youth players. In
addition, the TD is responsible for coach development and support.
The club adheres to Canada Soccer’s Long Term Player Development model and is a
member of BC soccer.
Experience and Qualifications
- Training in soccer coaching (C license or equivalent preferred)
- Demonstrated experience developing and coaching players of various ages and
levels
- Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector)
Roles and Responsibilities
- This position requires a Criminal Record Check. First Aid Certification is an asset.
- Create and administer a player development model in accordance with BC Soccer
and Canada Soccer LTPD guidelines.
- Offer age-appropriate skills training sessions to foster player development.
- Perform player assessments and team selections, providing feedback to players in a
positive and constructive manner
- Run training sessions for youth teams
- Support coach development
- Design and administer an overall coach development program
- Identify, recruit and manager volunteer coaches for all ages
- Provide development and educational opportunities for coaches
- Administration and Program Development
- Identify improvements to the current programs including areas for expansion such
as academies, camps and parent education.
- Develop and implement strategies programs in accordance with BC Soccer’s
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan Liaise with Lower Island Soccer Association, BC
Soccer and local clubs
- Attend youth district technical meetings
- Attend monthly board meetings at the request of the Board of Directors and/or
president
- Recruit and manage the club’s paid and volunteer technical contractors
- Complete other tasks that would reasonably fall into the TD portfolio
Skills Desired
- Ability to work in a team and work independently with little or no supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational ability
- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with club members, the public, and the Board
of Directors under all types of conditions while maintaining a positive and
supportive approach.
- Communicate effectively with parents
- Ability to take and give constructive criticism in an open and supportive manner

Pay: From $32,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 6 - 12 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
