Geological Assistant

**Position Summary**

**Job Requirements **(Principal Responsibilities)

Conduct various fieldwork tasks such as rock sampling, mapping, soil sampling, drill hole reclamation, and prospecting.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Safely operate rock saw to channel sample historic trenches.

Organize data and samples collected daily.

Prepare samples to be received by the laboratory.
Support management through digitization and interpretation of geoscience data.
Highly self-motivated individual who will display behavior consistent to TANCO’s Vision, Mission and Values.

**Technical**:
Practical knowledge of pegmatite ore mineralogy.

Knowledge of the room and pillar mining methods.

An understanding of the ore-to-concentrate production process.

**Behavioral**:
Performs all job duties in a safe and professional manner.

Ability to work at times with limited supervision.

Works as an effective member of a team.

Treats all proprietary information with a high degree of confidentiality.

Continues to develop knowledge in all aspects of pegmatites including Geology and GIS software

Practices clear and concise verbal and written communications.

Always acts in the best interests of Tanco/Sinomine.

**Education/Experience**
- Currently enrolled in Post-Secondary Education with a focus in Geology.
- First Aid
- Boating Safety - Pleasure Craft Operating Card
- Any hands-on experience (mine geology, exploration, research).

Any of the following computer competencies are considered an asset:

- Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
- 3D Leapfrog/Surpac
- 2D MapInfo/ArcGIS/QGIS

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 months

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Lac du Bonnet, MB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
