**Position Title**
- Classroom Project Technician**Position Summary**
- Do you have a passion for technology and looking for a job within the higher education field? We are currently seeking a full-time Classroom Project Technician to join the Information Technology Services team until June 30, 2024.
- The Classroom Project Technician is responsible to collaborate in the technical design and be responsible for the documentation, deployment and configuration of classroom technologies in the classrooms being upgraded as part of this project. The incumbent will have an understanding of the effective design of classroom technology and be skilled in the physical and logical configuration and deployment of various classroom technology systems.**Position Responsibilities**

**Design and Documentation**
Working with IT Services and the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) the technician will build the detailed technical design for various classroom technology deployments.- Understand the various requirements for the classroom system taking instruction from the CTL and IT Services staff
- Complete the technical design for each room detailing the mounting hardware, cable systems, cable management, technology, and physical and logical configuration of the technology to be used
- Standardize the technology used wherever possible to make using and supporting the system optimal

**Audiovisual Deployment**
The Technician will be responsible for the physical deployment and configuration of the AV systems in various classrooms.- Coordinating and assisting with the physical mounting of equipment
- Deploy the cabling systems; These may involve in wall or surface mount cabling systems
- Build the podiums to meet the specified design requirements; These will be easy to use, flexible, but tamper resistant
- Connecting the cabling system to the physical devices
- Logically configuring the devices to work with design
- Connecting the system to the campus network

**Audiovisual Maintenance and Repair**
In addition to the new classroom technology deployments the technician will perform maintenance, repair, and some reconfiguration on various existing classroom systems.- Inspect classrooms for proper av system operation
- Identify classroom systems not working optimally
- Repair and improve systems as needed
- Work with CTL to identify rooms that require updated instructions prepared

**Required Qualifications**
- Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Audio-Visual Technologies.
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Experience using MS Office Products (Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Experience using VISIO
- Excellent working knowledge of AV software, hardware, and networks
- Demonstrated initiative and creativity in solving problems
- Experience building physical cabling and cable management systems

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or equivalent (CTS-I; CTS-D would be an asset)
