**Role Summary**:
The Financial Reporting team is responsible for Magna's global internal and external financial close process, including the quarterly preparation of Magna's complex public company financial statements, management's discussion & analysis and related regulatory filings. The Financial Reporting department is an approved CPA Training Office with this position qualifying as practical experience for registered CPA students. The Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting in the monthly and quarterly financial close process.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the monthly and quarterly financial close process including:
- Liaise with multiple reporting units to resolve issues arising during the close process
- Reconciliation/analysis of key financial statement accounts
- Consolidation of reporting unit schedules
- Preparation and maintenance of monthly consolidation journal entries and certain consolidation reporting schedules
- Assist in the preparation of complex public company quarterly and annual financial statements, management's discussion & analysis and supporting schedules
- Assist in the preparation of Audit Committee and Board of Directors quarterly finance presentations and supporting schedules
- Assist in completion of compliance reporting requests
- Document accounting guidance for tax driven reorganizations and liaise with impacted reporting units to ensure the accounting guidance is appropriately applied
- Maintain an ongoing detailed understanding of the company's financial performance
- Support the Manager, Financial Reporting with ad-hoc requests and special projects
**Key Qualifications/Requirements**:
**Knowledge and Education**
- University degree
- Currently pursing or planning to pursue a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
**Work Experience**
- 0-3 years post University work experience
- Financial reporting experience at a large public company or public accounting firm an asset
**Skills and Competencies**
- Communicate effectively
- Commitment to task/managing work
- Attention to detail
- Be organized and able to prioritize, given many tasks are deadline-oriented
