Event Coordinator (Student Position)

Location: Remote 80%, In Chemainus 20%

Details:

- Summer Student (which is based on a grant that can be 8-12 weeks - your choice within May to August)
- 35 hours a week
- Monday to Friday between 9-5 with the exception of event days.

The Chemainus BIA is a dynamic organization dedicated to enhancing the local business community by organizing engaging events that attract both tourists and locals. With strong support from the executive team, we offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team as an Event Coordinator.

**Job Description**:
As an Event Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in organizing and executing multiple local and regional draw events aimed at enriching the town's business community. This role requires a blend of creativity, initiative, and teamwork to ensure the success of each event. You will have the freedom to explore innovative event ideas while receiving guidance and support from the Executive Director and board.

**Responsibilities**:

- Research event ideas and trends to create unique and appealing experiences.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and board to brainstorm event concepts and objectives.
- Develop comprehensive plans and timelines to execute events efficiently.
- Coordinate advertising efforts across various channels to promote events effectively.
- Engage with the community and local businesses to foster participation and support.
- Source sponsorships to cover event costs and secure necessary resources.
- Manage volunteer and staff allocation, ensuring smooth operations before, during, and after events.
- Oversee on-site coordination and management to ensure the seamless execution of events.
- Conduct post-event reporting and analysis, including gathering feedback from participants.
- Implement post-event surveys to assess member satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled as a Canadian student
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
- Creative thinker with a passion for planning and executing engaging events.
- Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
- Previous experience in event coordination or related roles is a plus, but not required at all.
