**Youth Recreation Activity Worker**
**Temporary position of 35 hours per week**

**to June 30, 2023 with a possibility of extension.**

**Position Summary**:
Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates community-based recreational, social, and/or educational activities.
Encourages and facilitates clients’ participation in activities. Hours of work may include evenings and weekends.

**Qualifications**:

- Education, Training and Experience: _
- Certificate in a related Human/Social Services field or Recreation course.
- Current First Aid Certification
- Job Skills and Ability: _
- Minimum of six (6) months recent related experience.- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance. Driver’s Abstract is required.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates community-based recreational, social, and/or educational activities

to meet clients’ needs.
2. To engage with and support youth to participate in healthy recreational activities to increase self-confidence,

develop healthy strategies to manage stress, and to connect youth to the program.
3. Encourages and facilitates clients’ participation in activities, provides guidance and instructions.
4. Monitors and observes clients’ behaviour. Report problems to Youth Services Program Coordinator.
5. Provides skill-building to clients such as life and social skills, models appropriate behaviour.
6. Ensures the safety of clients. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
7. Participates in the development of individual activity plans.
8. Accompanies and/or transport clients to activities.
9. Administers mediation as required in accordance with established guidelines, procedures, and instructions.

10. Engage with community partners and work collaboratively with youth’s families, community service providers,
professionals, and community committees.

11. Maintains related records & statistics and procedures reports as required.
12. Completes all mandatory learning requirements.
13. Performs other related duties as required.

**General: -**
Wage rate as per BCGEU Collective Agreement, Activity Worker, Grid Level 8 - $20.70 per hour, plus 10.2% in lieu

of benefits.
- This position requires Union membership.
- This position is open to all persons.
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal record check.
- This position reports to the Youth Services Coordinator.
