We are currently seeking a **Machine Shop Lead Hand** to join our team.

**Your duties and responsibilities**:

- Work safely and respect the safety of co-workers
- Set-up, operate and maintain machinery and equipment
- Perform precision machining operations
- Work with management and supervision to ensure high productivity levels are sustained maximizing the use of the available equipment and manpower.
- Operate various machining centers throughout the department as required.
- Display effective leadership.
- Be a readily available resource to workers in their assigned area.
- Assist in the orientation, training and machine cross-training of workers as required.
- Demonstrate exemplary behaviour in areas of housekeeping and conformance to established production and safety practices.
- Display effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Provide input into time estimates and in the development of approaches to new jobs which includes the determination of optimal machine, tooling with feed and speed parameters, jig or fixture design and fabrication, development and set-up documentation and high-level CNC programming as applicable.
- Work with staff to ensure that tooling is adequately maintained and stored in an organized manner.
- Work with staff and established vendors to ensure that inventories of consumables are adequately stocked.

**What you need**:

- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of machine tooling.
- Secondary school graduate (Grade 12 mathematics)
- Completion of recognized machine shop training course such as a two-year college or pre-apprenticeship program
- **Provincial or inter-provincial Machinist Certificate of Qualification is preferred**:

- **Must have Certificate of Apprenticeship, or 4 years of machining experience typical to Machinist A level work after obtaining Machinist Certificate of Qualification**:

- Proficiency with GibbsCAM software or similar CAM product.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $42.96-$43.46 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
