Job Description: Casual/Part Time Custodian

**Custodian Daily Duties and Responsibilities**
- Monitors the cleanliness of all Pioneer Museum buildings & grounds.
- Cleans and sanitizes all functional areas: including wiping, dusting, sweeping, washing/mopping and sanitizing surfaces.
- Remove trash and empty all waste bins. Collect all recycling.
- Cleaning & sanitizing restroom facilities.
- Cleans windows, mirrors & light dusting.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Helps with other tasks and jobs as needed as well as cleaning areas as assigned.

**Work Hours**:
The Part Time Custodian will be required to work a total of 5 to 12 hours per week on a casual basis. Hours may increase at times due to event requirements and season.

The schedule may vary and would require the ability to work some weekends and evenings on occasion.

**Custodian Qualifications / Skills**:
Customer Service Skills required for interaction with guests as needed.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
- The position requires physical, repetitive tasks to be completed including, but not limited to: Lifting, carrying, pushing, sitting, bending, crouching, kneeling and standing. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion for periods of time.
- Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor cleaners and cleaning solutions
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
- Ability to follow directions & checklists.

**Education and Experience Requirements**:

- Employee must have WHMIS training and able to read and understand MSDS sheets for safety of chemicals.
- Follow all Health & Safety requirements as per Occupational Health and Safety.
- A minimum of six months experience in a custodian and/or janitorial role; however we are willing to train the right employee.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 5-10 per week

**Salary**: From $19.00 per hour
