**Introduction**

The Extraction Supervisor is responsible for leading the team of process technicians through the supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, decarboxylation and milling processes, and solventless terpene extraction. This role will optimize day-to-day operation of sophisticated equipment while working closely with QA to ensure compliance with stringent regulations.

**Position Overview**:
**Extraction Operations**:

- Operate supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, decarboxylation and milling processes, and terpene extraction as per SOPs
- Provide strong leadership of extraction operations team
- Assist with developing and executing on technician training protocols
- Optimize and troubleshoot operations to maximize efficiency, quality and yield while ensuring safety and reliability
- Provide production reports and identify areas of improvement
- Assist in development and maintenance of all extraction, decarboxylation and milling, and terpene extraction SOPs
- Ensure maintenance and calibration of all equipment is completed as per defined schedule
- Work closely with QA to ensure 100% compliance with QA requirements
- Other projects and duties as assigned

**People Leadership**:

- Provide day-to-day oversight for direct reports in the department
- Foster and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment to motivate staff
- Identify, track and report on progress against organizational key performance goals
- Collaborate with senior management to identify and allocate resources (people and equipment) based on business & operational priorities
- Identify and remove obstacles that prevent staff from accomplishing tasks
- Provide continuous performance feedback for direct reports through regular one-on-one meetings and/or dept meetings
- Conduct formal performance reviews for staff as per the schedule defined by Human Resources (2x per year)
- In partnership with the Extractions Manager, deliver Performance Support Plans (PSP/PIP) and monitor accordingly
- Actively participate in the recruitment process to grow the department when required
- Manage the onboarding of new team members (identify training partner, provide training materials, etc)
- Proactively manage employee, process or equipment issues and escalating up as required



**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education required in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering technology or related science programs
- 5 years experience working in a laboratory and/or production (pharmaceuticals, food, botanical extraction or related industry)
- 2 - 5 years experience managing a team of operators or specialist
- Experience in the cannabis industry a strong asset
- Demonstrated experience safely operating sophisticated, high pressure extraction equipment (botanical or supercritical carbon dioxide extraction processes is preferred).
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety and high-quality results
- Strong time management skills and possesses strong ability to multi-task and prioritize based on business needs
- Shows initiative and ownership of work, strong attention to detail, willingness to learn and ability to problem solve
- Individuals with Health Canada security clearance is a strong asset or have the ability to secure Health Canada security clearance
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Required to pass a criminal background check
- Daily travel to facility in Aylmer, Ontario required (valid Driver’s License)
- Must be able to work a varied shift schedule

**SCHEDULE**
- “Half Continental” rotating shift schedule: 4 days one week, 3 days the following week
- Sunday through to Saturday (7-day operation). Hours are 7:30am - 8:00pm (12.5 hours)
- Breaks are: three 30 min breaks to be broken up based on team needs and discussed with Supervisor/Manager
