Our facility in Burlington Ontario has been in operation since 1975.

Our primary products out of this location are Wound Distributed Gap Cores, Mitre and Butt Lap Laminations, Logs and Fully Assembled Cores, Steel Sales, Custom Slitting and warehousing for Tempel Steel’s Laminations.

**Job Summary**:
**Productivity Improvements**
- Continually evaluate processes and procedures of departments under their direction to ensure Tempel is best utilizing its shop floor resources.
- Review production schedule with shift supervisors to ensure production targets and daily tasks are met and or exceeded in the most cost-effective manner.

**Scrap Reduction**
- Complete, report and analyze production, scrap and labour reports with the purpose of looking for waste and formulating plans to reduce waste.
- Implement and sustain all cost and waste reduction initiatives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work productively to schedule jobs, movement of people etc. (within and between departments)
- Conduct or assign employee training, determine any additional required employee training needs
- Achieve production targets as set by our company daily objective
- Report any concerns to the Management
- Communicate between shifts, management and other departments
- Conduct documented employee performance reviews
- Input information into the computer system, generate production and defect reports
- Comply with all work instructions, procedures, policies, rules and manuals (Burlington Quality Management System, Evacuation procedure, Security and Health and Safety) issued by Tempel Burlington
- Familiarity with the basic function of all the machines and the ability to troubleshoot
- Ensure all operators are completing all inventory transactions ensuring tight inventory control of raw material.
- Oversee all production issues in department(s)
- Follow-up on maintenance related issues pertaining to production equipment
- Safety/housekeeping, quality and 6S audits
- Provide first aid assistance and investigations
- Conduct and evaluate department supervisors’ performance reviews and disciplinary actions
- Co-ordinate all vacation and absences to ensure all required positions are covered.
- Support and contribute to Tempel Burlington’s productivity program in order to improve overall effectiveness
- Ensure that operators work in a safe manner, they are wearing their proper personnel protective equipment as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as any stipulations stated by Tempel Burlington manuals, work instructions, procedures, policies, or rules
- Advise the worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health and safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware (Occupational Health and Safety Act, Section 28).
- Where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to the measures, procedure or work instruction to be taken for protection of the worker (OHSA)
- Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker (OHSA)
- Perform workplace inspections
- Conduct investigations and complete the necessary documentation for accidents or incidents
- Commend employee health and safety performance
- Perform employee safety observations
- Discipline any worker for not following the Occupational Health and Safety Act or Tempel Burlington requirements.
- Report any hazards to the JH&SC and Management so they can be controlled properly
- Perform the assigned task in the Emergency Evacuation Procedure, assist personnel in evacuating the building, assure everyone has evacuated the building, and take attendance at the meeting place
- Be familiar with and capable to complete all of the necessary required documents and forms
- Manage interpersonal disagreements and finding solutions
