**SUMMARY**

As a Chemical Transfer Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and functional management of the wastewater treatment system including site wide support of hazardous waste management.

**This position is On-Site role**

**Work shift: Afternoon Shift (Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm)**

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Operating, trouble shooting, and performing preventative & scheduled maintenance for the wastewater treatment system, deionizer unit, scrubber filters, filter press, probes, filters, pumps, plating pits, process tanks, sludge removal/disposal, solution replenishment, chemical handling, storage & disposal
- Perform related departmental housekeeping & 5S activities
- Coordinate hazardous & non hazardous waste from all areas of the facility, including oils, coolants, sealants, oily rags, scrap metals, contractor waste etc.
- Make all chemical adds as required from lab analysis
- Lead tank pump outs and refills based off scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- 2- 3 years previous experience in waste water treatment.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment operations, chemical treatment, handling, storage & disposal, experienced with pumps, probes & filters, confined space requirements
- Laboratory experience related to use of IC, ICT instrumentation for analysis
- Familiarity with Ontario Reg 347 for the Management of Hazardous Waste
- Experience in management of waste, onsite, storage, labeling and preparation for disposal
- Demonstrated knowledge of emergency response and spill clean-up procedures would be considered an asset
- Action oriented, a team player & be able to work with the minimum of supervision
