Our original location was based in Hanover, Ontario and we are currently operating from two locations: Hanover and Kitchener.

Our approach to the market with our primary line of business is by promoting and selling the top furniture and mattress brands manufactured in Canada. Over 80% of our product displayed on the floor is made in Canada. Our logo says it all“FOR THE LOVE OF CANADIAN FURNITURE”.

**About the Position**

The Manager of Warehouse and Service Operations plays a key role in enabling Smitty’s to achieve its vision of being seen as the best choice for quality Canadian-made furnishings and a better buying experience You do this by leading a team of dedicated professionals on the customer service, warehouse, and delivery teams to provide service excellence for our customers.

**Your primary responsibilities will be**:
Leadership:
Overall leadership responsibility for the activities of the warehouse (shipping/receiving), delivery driver, and customer service teams:

- Oversees management of all warehouse, drivers, and customer service team members in a manner consistent with the Company's values and culture
- Oversees HR processes with respect to the warehouse, drivers, and customer service team members, including but not limited to hiring, terminations, and performance reviews
- Promotes a healthy and safe work environment by enforcing health & safety policies, identifying and handling safety concerns
- Demonstrate commitment to valuing differences, developing, and coaching diverse teams, ensuring diverse perspectives are heard, encouraging everyone to have a voice and inviting opinions from all
- Maintain regular communication meetings with each team to ensure the efficient and timely flow of information

Customer Service:

- Provide guidance on day-to-day activities
- Oversee the scheduling of deliveries for efficiency
- Ensuring happy customers by making the delivery process as positive and simple as possible
- Utilizing dispatch tools to optimize truck routes to keep costs down
- Overcoming delivery challenges by coordinating with customers, warehouses, and delivery teams

Warehouse:

- Ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse including shipping and receiving, packaging and maintenance
- Oversee pre-delivery inspection or construction is completed
- Overseeing maintenance and ensuring the safe operation of lift trucks and other equipment used

Delivery:

- Ensure the accurate and on-time delivery of quality products to customers
- Ensure that daily vehicle inspections are conducted and records are maintained
- Ensure regular maintenance is performed on all vehicles

Other duties as may be assigned

**Your** **Education, **Skills**, and Experience**:

- Degree or Diploma from a recognized university or college in Business, Operations, Retail Operations, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience progressing in leadership roles
- 5+ years in the home furnishings industry
- Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety requirements
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs
- Ability to use Microsoft products (Word, Excel, SharePoint etc.)
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
