**Job Summary**

The SPD Technician is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical-surgical supplies and equipment, with particular emphasis on specialty instrumentation utilized in OR procedures.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Minimum of 112.5 hours (3 weeks) clinical experience required
- Previous experience as a Technician an asset, as well as some knowledge of surgical instrumentation, medical - surgical supplies and equipment.
- Must be well organized in order to complete daily workload and maintain optimal turnaround times for reusable equipment. Work is performed independently within the confines of predetermined procedures and practices. The Technician must be capable of working co-operatively within a team to achieve the demands of the department.
- Working knowledge of basic aseptic techniques and principles of Infection Control
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
