**Role Summary**

This role leads the accounting team and is responsible for ensuring accounting tasks are completed on time and accurately. They will sit on the leadership team and help make decisions regarding the future of the company.

**Role and Responsibilities**

**Financial Accounting and Reporting**
- Together with the accounting team, ensure accurate and timely completion of the monthly accounting cycle.
- Finalize monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Forward financial statements to the Ownership Team for review.
- Manage the Megapro’s cash flow and working capital including analysis and forecasting and provide regular insights and updates.
- Administer timely payroll employee processing through ADP in keeping with standard payroll legislation and procedures.
- Oversee the consistent and timely collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms, report on any receivable issues to the sales team stakeholders.
- Process foreign exchange and intercompany transactions.
- Manage research and development program (SR&ED), CCRA and accounting requirements
- Coordinate the year-end audit with external accountants, including the preparation of audited financial statements.
- Review and analysis of cost of goods sold, product margins, profitability by customer and

development of sales and inventory reporting to support sales and operational initiatives.

**Financial Systems and Controls**
- Implement the necessary internal accounting process controls and documents to protect Megapro’s assets.
- Work with Operations Manager to support effective controls and accuracy of the inventory management system.
- Track products between locations to ensure they are accurately processed and maintained.
- Participate in the evaluation of accounting and/or ERP systems and upgrades that will increase efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting and sales management process.
- In consultation with the Leadership Team, makes technology decisions that best support the growth of the business; maximize the use of technology and current systems so they meet the comprehensive needs of accounting, sales, assembly, and shipping functions.

**Financial Budgeting and Reporting**
- Lead the strategy and initiatives to continuously improve the overall financial reporting process.
- Maintain key performance indicators and create dashboard reporting that provide real-time financial data, as required and requested.
- Maintain the day-to-day banking relationships, including compliance with reporting requirements.
- Work with sales team on product pricing, costing and margins, and assist with pricing strategies to respond to product demand.
- Prepare and develop annual operating and capital budgets and provides analysis
- Create the annual budget planning and forecasts for the next fiscal period and beyond.
- Develop and manage risk management policies and plans that protect Megapro; including, but not limited to, providing for appropriate insurance.

**Team Leadership**
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, meets with them regularly, individually and as a team, to set priorities, address issues and concerns, promote teamwork, conduct process reviews, and goal setting.
- Ensure resources are in place for successful performance of the work.
- Engage in longer-term planning around department staffing, process and systems renewal and development to ensure future success and stability.
- Facilitate ongoing training and professional development of staff to ensure that they provide services that are responsive, and service focused.

**Experience & Skills Required**
- University degree in Business/Accounting, with CPA designation required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, problem-solving and organizational skills are essential.
- Demonstrated understanding of intercompany transactions and international trade.
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures and processes, and how they relate to accounting software.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, pension, profit sharing, and the like is essential.
- Knowledge of ERP computer systems an asset.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills.
