Home Helpers

Family Service Kent is seeking motivated House Cleaners, Personal Support Workers and Health Care Aids from across Chatham-Kent to join our roster of Independent Resource Contractors ("Home Helpers"). The Home Help broker service, operated under the CHAP umbrella, facilitates service matches between self-employed "Helpers" and clients seeking to employ affordable in-home assistance.

As a self-employed Home Helper, you will be responsible for working independently in homes across Chatham-Kent with clients we match you to. Alongside meeting domestic and/or personal care needs, you will be responsible for ensuring clients are safe, secure, comfortable, and happy in their home. Jobs may entail preparing a client’s favourite, nutritious meal, carrying out household tasks around the home, providing personal cares, and/or providing companionship supports. Our clients have varying degrees of dependency and health needs, so you will need to have at least 6 months’ experience and/or relevant training.

If you meet the following criteria, we would love to hear from you
- 6+ months experience with general household cleaning/tasks and/or personal care services to clients.
- Valid driver’s license, transportation and clear Vulnerable Persons Check.
- Liability insurance coverage is recommended.
- Well-spoken, and fluent in written and spoken English; other languages an asset.
- Organized, with effective communication and reporting skills (oral & written).
- Resourcefulness, flexibility, and the ability to take initiative
- Happy to provide care for people, including those with dementia, their homes.
- Strong ability to work independently and cope with demanding daily routines.
- Good cooking skills and have experience running and maintaining a home.
- Alignment with Family Service Kent’s mission, vision, and values to provide services to individuals, families, and communities.
