With the Ministry of Children and Family Development, the East Fraser Youth Justice team is a close-knit, established group of diverse professionals who come together from a wide range of backgrounds. Consisting of seven Youth Probation Officers, one Restorative Justice Worker, and one Team Lead, the team values their a close relationship with the Stó:lō Nation. They also collaborate closely with community agents like policing, corrections, community services, and schools, as well as internal Ministry colleagues. This team thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume, professional environment where they are vital in reducing the risk of reoffence in young offenders and privileged to witness these youth succeed. The team operates within the beautiful Fraser Valley, offering a unique and rewarding experience for those passionate about making a difference.

**The Role**
The Youth Probation Officer provides case management and supervision to youth, ensuring they meet court orders and agreements while navigating challenging circumstances. In this role you will act as an advocate for young offenders, helping them take responsibility for their actions and connecting them with vital resources and programs. Your work will play a key role in enhancing public safety and fostering a healthy community by making a life-changing impact on vulnerable youth. This challenging role offers the chance to build meaningful connections, contribute to real positive change, and collaborate with a variety of community professionals.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience Requirements**

Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field or Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Sciences field (including History, Political Science, etc.) NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.- Human Services field includes: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

- Experience working as a fully Delegated Youth Probation Officer in a Canadian Jurisdiction.
- Experience working as an Adult Probation Officer.
- Experience in a justice, educational or social service setting that involves the supervision of young people or adults.
- Experience in a justice, educational or social service setting with counselling or conflict resolution. Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.Please note:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
