**Position Details**
**Position**:Coastal Douglas Fir Conservation Partnership Coordinator
**Pay Rate**: $27+ (commensurate with experience), plus 4% vacation paid bi-weekly
**Work Schedule**: Variable, 16-24 hours/week
**Work Location**: Flexible. Some travel may be required.
**Contract Timeline**: April 2023 - March 2024

**Position Description**
The Coordinator will provide administrative, coordination, and communications support for the Steering Committee and associated working groups to assist with implementing the CDFCP Conservation Strategy and priorities identified under the Priority Places and Nature Smart Climate Solutions Funds. The Coordinator will engage with Local Governments to raise awareness and promote the implementation of the CDFCP Local Government Conservation Planning Guide and species at risk recovery actions. The Coordinator will report to the CDFCP Program Manager.
**Essential Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in one of the following areas or a related field:

- business, planning, management or communications with a strong demonstrated interest or experience in nature conservation; or
- natural sciences, conservation biology, biology or environmental studies, with a strong demonstrated interest or experience in organizational management.
- Minimum 2 years experience in one of the above fields
- Evidence of strong facilitation, collaboration and oral communication skills
- Experience of preparing text for websites, eNewsletters and/or other social media platforms
- Self-starter, able to work with mínimal supervision but also in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement projects
- Contract administration skills
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point programs

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Academic or applied experience in Conservation Science
- Fundraising and proposal writing experience
- Knowledge of with conservation issues and species at risk recovery on the south coast of BC
- Experience working with Local Governments
- Experience with ArcGIS
- Knowledge of conservation partners and contacts within the conservation field
- Knowledge of related legislation and regulations, conservation policies and local government roles

**Responsibilities**

**Support the Partnership**
- Support the Steering Committee with implementation of the Conservation Strategy
- Organize meetings, prepare agendas and record minutes for CDFCP Steering Committee and Securement Working Group
- Create CDFCP website content and oversee website maintenance
- Produce content for the eNewsletter sent to CDFCP members and subscribers
- Review CDFCP related materials and publications before they are finalized

**Engage Local Governments to raise awareness and implement the CDFCP Local Government Conservation Planning Guide**
- Research Official Community Plans undergoing consultation and provide recommendations to local governments for conservation planning, including species at risk recovery
- Contact local governments to research the status of conservation planning and measures in place to support species at risk recovery
- Engage local governments to raise awareness and promote objectives for species at risk recovery in the SW BC Priority Places initiative

**Implement the CDFCP Conservation Strategy**
- Oversee and track progress in the implementation of the Conservation Strategy
- Ensure activities of the Securement and Coastal Oak and Prairie Working Group are coordinated and contribute to the overall goals/objectives
- Facilitate project meetings when required and support project work planning

**Program Support and Ongoing Funding**
- Solicit diversified funding sources for CDFCP operations from government, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities, contract opportunities, as well as public donations
- Write funding proposals as needed
- Communicate and coordinate with community organizations and other stakeholders
- Expand and maintain relationships with funders, partner organizations, key stakeholders
- Prepare promotional materials for the CDFCP and support efforts to establish the CDFCP brand for marketing and communications

**Project Tracking and Financial Management**
- Oversee program revenues and expenses, ensuring processing of payables and receivables
- Track and manage project and organizational budgets with assistance from the BCCF administration team
- Establish procedures for records maintenance, including filing and electronic storage
