**SUMMARY**:
The psychoeducator is responsible for improving the well-being and the adjustment of children who have, or at risk of developing difficulties in their interactions with their environment (family, child care center, school, social relationships, etc.).

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To act in an advisory capacity to those involved with children 0 to 18 years old:

- Advise the management of the efficient support strategies to mobilize and support the educators in their continued efforts to improve their practices.
- Advise management on the use of relevant observation charts to support the educators with observations, planning and educational interventions.
- To provide services to the children who have difficulties or symptoms of specific disorders
- Evaluate the abilities and the personal and environmental adjustment difficulties of the children who are developing, or are at risk of developing adjustment problems within their environment (family, daycare, school, social relationships, etc.)
- Prepare psychoeducational evaluation reports and communicate the results to the people concerned.
- Analyze evaluations and determine objectives and intervention strategies that meet the needs and abilities of the child or family (intervention planning).
- Refer children and families to proper resources or services that meet the identified needs.
- Consistent evaluation during client interventions and adjust the intervention plan when needed.
- To provide services to families.
- Family counseling services.
- Support services for families in difficulty.
- Establish and coordinate the screening system for children in the community

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:

- Master’s Degree in Psychoeducation
- Member in good standing of the OPPQ (Ordre des Psychoéducateurs et Psychoéducatrices du Québec)

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Manage a professional practice in a rigorous and relevant manner according to current standards (Ordre des psychoéducateurs et psychoéducatrices du Québec)
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of settings and in a cross-cultural situation
- Knowledge of Timiskaming First Nation (TFN) services
- Bilingual in both English and French
- Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team oriented, multi-disciplinary environment
- Ability to represent TFN with a professional image and maintain confidentiality
- Vulnerable sector check must be attached to be considered (or must be able to attain as soon as possible)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.28-$47.04 per hour
