We are looking for Maintenance Manager to lead our Maintenance team located close to the Sapperton Sky train station in New Westminster, BC.
Are you an experienced truck or equipment mechanic who is looking to use your tools less and your mind more? Are you organized and detail oriented and know how work should flow through a shop?
**This is the perfect opportunity for you if**:
- You are an experienced Red Seal and have knowledge of Hydraulics and electrical systems as well as some experience with Forklifts and wheel loaders
- You have worked with a CMMS computer managed maintenance system.
- **A minimum of ten (10) years previous commercial vehicle repair experience **as a maintenance Lead Hand, Supervisor or Manager.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
Reporting to the Trucking Operations Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to a group of ten mechanics by prioritizing their work, helping with diagnostics, making sure they have the right parts at the right time and verifying the quality of the work being done.
You understand that a safe work environment is critical, it's not worth doing the job if someone is going to get hurt.You know that preventative maintenance is always better than reactive, but stuff happens, and we need to know how to deal with breakdowns in a timely manner.
- Overseeing Preventative Management program on assigned assets. This will include administrating the CVIP on the fleet ensuring that all trucks are certified and meet our NSC obligations
- Overseeing all aspects of repairs and outside supplier services or parts for assigned assets. Utilizing Urban Impact’s robust supply chain you will coordinate repairs between our shop and other third party shops.
- Managing the Maintenance team employees, including management of vacation, education schedule, performance management, training etc.
- Maintaining and delivering all safety training for the department.
- Ensuring safe operations for the maintenance shop and its team members.
- Preparing parts inventory and time evaluation for work orders.
- Interacting with internal customers and vendors.
- Delivering and training on all Toolbox Talks in cooperation with our Trucking Operations Manager.
- Ensuring Maintenance Coordinator position is working cooperatively with Trucking and all suppliers and supporting the department on all support requests.
- Ensuring that safe work practices are maintained, and that staff are aware of Work-Safe BC, WHMIS and other safety regulations.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Red Seal or Interprovincial Ticket in Heavy Duty mechanics.
- A minimum of ten (10) years previous experience in progressively responsible positions in commercial vehicle repair.
- Supervisory and management experience to provide coaching, team building, and development and performance management to manage team.
- Desirable to have experience in maintenance planning processes and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
- Working knowledge in the use of all speciality hand tools required.
- Current Class 5 driver's license.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems
- Ability to work inside a shop and outside.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Working safely, leading on safety.
- Ability to manage and lead others through organizational changes.
- Maintains composure in stressful situations.
- Committed to continual learning to improve job knowledge/skills.
- Desirable to have experience in executing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to adopt management and industry best practices.
