**General Labourer**

**Pitt Meadows, BC**

**Pay Rate: $18.00 to $20.00**
- **Pay determined on skills and years of experience.**

**Summary**: General Labourers operate various handheld tools small equipment and handle hazardous materials while frequently performing physical work in all weather conditions. In addition, they will place and remove ten-pound IBC'S (inter-box containers) in the corner castings of rail containers.

**General Labourer Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring safety is always a priority
- Follow policies and procedures set out by the company
- Responsible for various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites
- Various loading and unloading of heavy materials such as tools and equipment to and from various vehicles and machine
- Shoveling rocks and dirt for manual grading of surfaces and clearing ballasts
- Clearing railway crossings of brush and tall grass using handheld tools and equipment
- Snow removal from, crossings, and right aways using shovels, backpack blowers, brooms etc.
- General understanding of how to operate small equipment such as, but not limited to rail saws, drills, grinders, puller, air compressor, bolter, and backpack blower
- General understanding on how to operate hand tools such as, but not limited to shoveles, picks, hammers, claw bars, drift pin, scythes, brooms, shovel, pick, and track jacks
- Occasional driving of company vehicle
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Open availability to work: Day/Night and Weekend hours
- Must comply with established safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
- Documented successful completion of lawful post-offer, pre-employment checks including criminal background check and drug screening.
