Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.

The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

**EMERGENCY RESPONSE SPECIALIST**

**Key Responsibilities**

Area 1:
Develop, implement and continuously improve Emergency Response program.
- Work with the Security Superintendent to plan, develop, implement and improve the emergency response program.
- Update emergency response processes, procedures, and protocols as necessary to ensure alignment with a dynamic operational mining environment.
- Provide technical expertise in emergency response preparedness.
- Evaluate the emergency response program through audits, testing and compliance reviews.
- Build understanding of emergency response through communications, testing, audits and directly engaging with employees, contractors and visitors.
- Facilitate and participate in incident investigations and risk assessments involving emergency response.
- Maintain and report emergency response data.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all policies and procedures take emergency response into account.
- Analyze emergency response, life safety event statistics on company property and prepare appropriate monthly, quarterly, or as requested reports for submission to management.
- Conduct field audits to ensure strict compliance and conformance with emergency response program management policies.
- Remain the primary point of contact for all matters relating to emergency response management on company property.
- Prepare appropriate emergency response documentation to ensure compliance with provincial, federal rules, regulations, and legislation.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance local rescue and response capabilities for site and area.
- Active participant and emergency response advocate in the cyanide transportation organizing committee.
- Ensure all emergency response equipment is maintained according to manufacturers and regulatory requirements.

Area 2:
Lead and participate in the emergency response team.
- Lead by example.
- Lead and empower emergency response team members in achieving world class emergency response.
- Create space for the team to be effective in delivering results.
- Develop effective emergency response team selection processes.
- Develop, plan and schedule training and arrange certification programs to ensure an adequate number of competent emergency response personnel are available to provide 24/7/365 emergency response.
- Responsible for Emergency Response Team activities on company property related to surface emergencies.
- Conduct regular communications with site-based emergency response teams to ensure consistency, competency, capability, and capacity of personnel and services are maintained.

Area 3:
Operational excellence.
- Seek opportunities to improve emergency response systems, processes and procedures.
- Be proactive and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
- Be passionate about safety as a principle and deeply held belief, not just as a regulation, standard or certification requiring compliance.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
- Continually seek to improve your skills as an Emergency Response Specialist.
- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).

Qualifications

**Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves**

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
- Certified as Train the Trainer.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- EMT or Paramedic certification is considered an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in mine emergency management and life safety response, or a similar environment.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
- Develop and foster a team environment.
- Advanced computer literacy, specifically MS Office suite.
- Thorough working knowledge and understanding of emergency response practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in
