**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to and under the GIS Coordinator’s general direction, the GIS Tech will support the GIS Coordinator in developing, designing, managing and maintaining the City’s Geographical Information System (GIS), Asset Management software and associated database information. In particular, the GIS Tech will work closely with the City’s Operations and Planning team to update the historical information related to the City’s water, wastewater and stormwater systems. The GIS Tech is also responsible for creating various maps and reports for other departments within the City. Typical tasks would include (but are not limited to):
- Research data structure options for asset management (sewer, water, storm, etc.)
- Review/collate various information from historical asset records
- Review as-built drawings and enter pertinent information into the City’s GIS database and Asset Management program Citywide (year installed, pipe material, diameter, slope, etc)
- Collect/verify data infrastructure points in the field (manholes, inverts, valves, cc’s, traffic lights, crosswalks etc)
**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or other AI-assisted tools is an asset
- Experience with ArcGIS and/or PSD Citywide is an asset
- Demonstrated time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and organize a workload
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to listen effectively and resolve the core issue
- Must be enrolled in a Civil/Construction/Engineering Technology program from a recognized technical institute
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license with acceptable Driver Abstract
**Wage Rate**:$24.04 to $30.05 per hour (37.5 hours per week)
