**Canlan is currently looking for Manager, Youth Tournaments**

**Job Summary**:
The Manager, Youth Tournaments role is a dynamic member of our team, responsible for growth, development, and execution of a targeted portfolio of Canlan Sports’ youth hockey tournaments across North America, as assigned by the Product Manager, Youth Tournaments.

The position is entrepreneurial by nature, with a focus to drive growth in these key segments, managing the end-to-end customer relationship, and delivering industry-leading experiences for participants in our tournaments.

This role also takes accountability to achieve participation and financial targets, completing a thorough market analysis, and ensuring that our products are well positioned for success within our sports complexes, as well as identifying opportunities for strategic growth.

Key Role Competencies

**1. Youth Tournament Management and Execution**:
1.1. Manages an assigned portfolio of youth hockey tournaments, providing leadership and end-to-end tournament management that achieves registration, financial, and customer experience targets.

1.3. Effectively plans and prepares for upcoming tournaments, showcasing an ability to manage tasks and maintain organization and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

1.4. Takes ownership of event management, including building tournament divisions that promote parity and competition; scheduling that optimizes ice usage and ancillary revenue streams; and an ability to manage tournament expenses in-line with the annual operating plan.

1.5. Manages event staff (e.g. conveners) and independent contractors (e.g. referees and timekeepers), to develop staff schedules and ensure the coverage needs of programming is met.

1.6. Ability to travel, as required, to manage the execution and delivery of tournament programming, at Canlan Sports complexes and third-party sports complexes.

1.7. Ensures that youth tournaments are operated in accordance with established best practice and operating procedures.

1.8. Demonstrates a calm demeanour to manage potential conflicts and make objective decisions that prioritize the integrity of our programming and the Canlan Sports brand.

**2. Business Development, Decision Making, and Entrepreneurship**:
2.2. Works with the product team and marketing team to develop targeted marketing and communication campaigns that are timely, relevant, and amplify the profile of our youth tournaments, leading to additional registrations.

2.3. As required, updates relevant web platforms with tournament information and utilizes the organization’s CRM to manage registrations, pricing, accounts receivables, and product setup.

2.4. Robust technology user who’s able to learn and develop skills with new technologies and leverage them for success.

2.5. Collaborates with the sponsorship team to identify opportunities to work with third-party organizations, providing insights, analysis, and other information that may be of value in the development of sponsorship agreements.

2.6. Understands the goals of the department and how they contribute to the overall success of the sports complex, and Canlan Sports while collaborating and sharing best practices with other team members and peers at Canlan Sports.

**3. Leadership, Collaboration, and Team Development**:
3.1. Demonstrated ability to take ownership and accountability over their portfolio of work, working proactively to identify new opportunities and solve existing challenges.

3.3. Versatile skill set with the ability to work either independently or collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including product teammates, Canlan Sports complex teammates, third-party sports complexes, customers, and strategic partners or other key stakeholders.

**4. Financial Results and Administration**:
4.1. Assists in the development of the organization’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP), including projected revenue targets, expense requirements, identifying potential variances, and ultimately ensuring that the plan is implemented and achieved.

4.2. Proactively maintains forecasts, working diligently to identify and close gaps, and an innovative approach to enhancing the value proposition of Canlan Sports’ products.

4.3. On an ongoing basis, reviews financial results in comparison to the AOP, identifies variances, and recommends corrective action to ensure that post-event reporting procedures and the management of month-end reporting procedures are satisfied.

4.4. Manages accurate and timely payroll for all applicable reports, including conveners; and
