We are looking for an **Associate Scientist - Cell Development** to join our R&D team. This is an ideal position for a person who has experience with lithium-ion battery technology. Working with the product development team, the Associate Scientist requires the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders from within the research and development function. If you have excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills with an eye for details and love for battery technology, check out the requirements below.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Design lithium-ion cells to meet specific performance targets using a database of suitable materials.
- Plan and carry out experiments to characterize the safety, performance, and reliability of prototype Li-ion cells.
- Analyse interactions between cell components to optimize performance.
- Diagnose cell performance and reliability issues through various techniques such as CT, SEM/EDS, FTIR, XRD, battery cycling, and cell disassembly.
- Use statistical methods to identify solutions for complex problems.
- Provide oral and written reports for key stakeholders in Canada, Taiwan and external customers and suppliers.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- MSc or BSc Degree in relevant Science or Engineering field with related experience in the battery field.
- Experience and hands-on skills with Li-ion battery testing and production processes, reliability testing, regulatory/certification testing, electrical and mechanical tests, data interpretation, and statistical analysis.
- Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity for handling cells and performing teardowns.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge or the ability to quickly learn battery technologies, battery testing methodologies, battery regulatory standards and safety compliance.
- Applied knowledge of Design of Experiments would be considered an asset.

Note: This position will be working on-site during the training period with future opportunity to work from home from time to time. Additionally, the position does require periodic travel.
