**The Opportunity**:
Under the direction of the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff, assists in planning, co-ordinating and facilitating activities of the medical staff. The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the credentialing, recredentialing and privileging processes for medical staff at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH).

The Medical Staff Coordinator will ensure all physicians and midwives are credentialed, appointed, and privileged, in addition to maintaining up-to-date data for each staff in credentialing databases and online systems, and ensure timely renewal of licenses and certifications. The Coordinator will also assist with the onboarding and orientation of Credentialled Staff, arranging payment for physicians in accordance with agreements and policy, and coordinating continuing medical education sessions.

In addition, the Medical Staff Coordinator will support the Executive Assistant, COS with administrative support for the COS’ office including meeting preparation and minutes, drafting correspondence, presentations and documents, and handling inquiries.

**Qualifications**:

- Applicable 2-year college program or diploma in Office Administration preferred.
- 3 years of related administrative assistance experience preferred.
- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers.
- Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
- Must have proficient computer skills.
- Must be dedicated to professional growth & development.
- Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
- Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Communicates appointments and changes in appointments and privileges to the appropriate hospital areas.
- Ensures all recommendations of Credentials Committee with appropriate information are forwarded to the Medical Advisory Committee and the Board of Trustees.
- Maintains professional files on all physicians/dentists/midwives practicing in the hospital.
- Responsible for arranging for payment to physicians according to HOCC agreement and other hospital policies.
- Advises Ministry of Health of changes in medical activity related to HOCC funds.
- Assists with special projects including recruitment of medical staff, accreditation, by-law revision, annual medical staff reports and medical manpower statements.
- Assists in preparation of call schedules (collection, distribution, and changes).
- Develops and maintains the Medical Staff Orientation Program. Responsible for facilitating the orientation of new medical staff appointments.
- Facilitates physician recruitment with development of marketing and advertising related to physician recruitment.
- Other duties as assigned.
