JOB DESCRIPTION: CONTROLLER

**Responsibilities**:

- Management level position reporting to the President; also supervises Accounts Manager.
- Work closely with President, Vice President Construction, and General Manager, as well as all Project Managers with financial responsibilities.
- Manage all accounting and finance activities and monitor/develop internal controls.
- Manage A/R and A/P.
- Administration of related companies.
- Prepare and provide financial information as required by the President and Project Managers (management team).
- Payroll management and benefits administration.
- Banking, WSIB and pension reconciliations and payments.
- Liaise with legal and accounting consultants as required.
- Prepare financial projections quarterly and update monthly with actual figures; preparation and presentation/analysis annual financial reports.
- Oversee purchase orders, change orders, and invoicing; project cost tracking.
- Collaborate with senior team on capital acquisitions and IT projects, etc.
- Contribute to regular project coordinator, project manager and board meetings.
- Set development and growth goals for companies; measure and present progress.
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance with demonstrable functional understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) is required.
- A professional accounting designation would be considered an asset.
- Solid bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction (or comparable non-retail business).
- Familiarity with tax laws and accounting principles relevant to a business with annual sales in the$25M-$50M range.
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines (highly organized).
- Personable and professional, well-presented.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office 365 programs (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe.
- Experience with Maestro or similar project-based accounting software considered an asset.
