**Background**

Action for Healthy Communities (AHC) is a non-profit charitable organization working in Alberta since 1995 to strengthen community capacity and build healthier and stronger communities. AHC’s objective is to improve the lives of individuals and communities in which they live through provision of public education and other capacity building initiatives to enable them to enhance their own lives.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Communications Coordinator, the Marketing Assistant supports the promotion of AHC’s programs, events and special initiatives, support in the production of content for digital sharing and print, aid in the storytelling of AHC’s clients and entrepreneurs, and support the recruitment of new immigrant entrepreneurs to the ESP program. Furthermore, the incumbent will provide skills coaching and demonstration and motivational support to build positive relationships, guide, inspire, challenge, encourage and help individuals as they improve their digital marketing skills for their business.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**1)** **Support in Marketing Strategy (5%)**
- In relation to marketing, support the Communications Coordinator to determine gaps in current marketing efforts and recommend strategies for improvement.

**2)** **AHC Program Promotion (70%)**
- Stories telling:
✔ Assist in showcasing the client testimonial including (new immigrant clients, youth, entrepreneurs, volunteers etc.)

✔ Polish and publish stories on program social media and AHC’s website
- Participate in promoting AHC Programs:
✔ Help enhance all AHC programs visibility, especially targeting new immigrants to Canada.

✔ Review the existing social media and marketing processes and tools for their effectiveness and efficiency. Support the Communications Coordinator to identify and explore innovative avenues to promote program activities and services through various media channels and other advertising means.

✔ Help create and implement strategies that can bring consistency and enhance the engagement of clients to the existing social media tools and AHC website.

✔ Assist with creating promotional materials and translating them into various languages.

✔ Develop and maintain relationships with ethno-cultural/grassroots groups to expand the Program’s reputation.

✔ Attend inter-agency meetings to share project experiences as well as develop new collaborations.

**3)** **Small Business Counselling Support - Digital Skills (20%)**
- Work with Entrepreneurship Program participants - entrepreneurs either one-on-one and/or in small groups to identify their needs in promoting their businesses and generate more sales. This will be delivered both in-person and remotely.
- Coach/train the entrepreneurs in developing their social media, establish their online presence, and boost their sales.
- Assist in showcasing AHC’s entrepreneurs/business partners (business facilitators, coaches, mentors) stories in photos and videos through both AHC’s and the ESP social media platforms and webpages.
- Review and enhance the existing Alumni platform through entrepreneurs’ engagement and the connection between program Alumni:
✔ Review/develop social media and newsletters to unite entrepreneurs of the program, get them engaged and supportive to each other.

✔ Create and animate entrepreneurs’ conversation and binding

**4) Administrative Tasks & Others (5%)**
- Attend various program related events and training, assist with set up and take down as needed
- Ensure records retention practices are in accordance with the law and funders standards for confidential documents related to program participants.
- Actively participate in program/AHC team meetings, professional development activities, staff retreat and other AHC activities.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Relevant post-secondary degree preferred (Marketing, Public or Community Relations, Communications, or Event Planning) and/or with two years of experience
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as some in-town travel will be required from time to time
- The ability to work well independently on several concurrent projects
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have strong skills using computer software (MS Office, Google Apps, Adobe Suite, Canva or similar, video editing software, etc.)
- Must have demonstrated experience with use of social media tools for program promotion and digital advertising
- Demonstrate an ability to engage positively and in collaboration with others in a productive manner, including working with ethno-cultural communities and businesses
