BACKPACK BROADCAST SPRAY CREW LEADER

Season begins in early August and goes till late September.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Supervise broadcast treatment of all vegetation within designated areas
- Communicates departmental policies, plans and procedures to those under their supervision.
- Conduct safety training of assigned personnel in accordance with good safety training procedures. Conduct stand downs and tailgate trainings as applicable.
- Document hazard assessments, inspections and morning meetings.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with clients
- Ensure that all tasks assigned are completed in a timely and professional manner with mínimal disruption to client operations and/or to public usage.
- Train and coach employees. Evaluate performance and provide feedback as necessary.
- Organize logistics, navigate resource roads and gain access to remote worksites
- Drive, inspect and maintain large/heavy trucks with trailers
- Operate, inspect and maintain Argos and other offroad vehicles
- Working with helicopters
- Maintain spray packs and equipment
- Assist in filling sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, in accordance with regulations and label directions
- Identify and mark site boundaries and riparian areas
- Payroll and data entry
- Monitoring and recording of weather conditions
- Waiting for ideal weather conditions
- Follow the direction of the project manager
- Work areas are assigned by the client over a large geographic region. Frequent travel will be expected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Possess excellent leadership skills and be able to handle stressful situations along with being able to multi-task
- Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience driving and maintaining large vehicles
- Negative drug screen result(s)
- Valid first-aid (can train)
- Competency with Avenza PDF Maps, excel and mobile apps in general
- Map reading skills
- Be physically fit and able to carry 50+ pounds
- Ability to walk rapidly over debris on uneven terrain
- The ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions
- Decision making skills
- Willingness to work, enjoy, and live in a remote setting
- Preparation for work in all weather conditions
- Commitment till the end of August at a minimum.
- A good work ethic, a positive attitude & willingness to contribute
