Our team in **Chilliwack, BC** is looking to hire a **Jr. Poultry Nutritionist** for a long term rewarding career with Trouw Nutrition.

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, BC, this position will primarily support BC and work with the Senior Poultry Nutritionist and Sales teams to ensure the optimum performance of our poultry feeding programs for broilers, layers, broiler-breeders, ducks, Taiwanese chickens and turkeys. This position will work with the available technology to optimize formulations to best meet the financial potential of the species we feed.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Maintenance and updating of poultry diets and nutrition programs for broilers, layers, broiler-breeders, ducks, Taiwanese chickens and turkeys.
- Regular communication between Formulation, Operations, QA/QC, Pricing, Procurement, Sales, such as:

- Verification and updating nutrition programs based on the nutritional qualities of incoming ingredients.
- Work with QA/QC and operations teams to validate nutritional qualities of outgoing feeds.
- Collaboration with procurement and logistics to support ingredient usage (forecasting based on price or nutrient changes, out of stock, issues, new, expiring, etc.).
- Support both the Poultry and Bagged Feed / Dealer sales team, by providing nutrition support, problem solving on farm issues, aiding in technical knowledge, farm visits, and technical training.
- Provide nutrition and support (including record keeping, data analysis, weighing birds, trouble shooting) for research/validation trials at our broiler research facility.
- Engage with colleagues across the Canadian technical team to share and learn from best practices in each region.
- All other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- BSc in Animal Science with a MSc in Animal nutrition considered an asset.
- Experience in poultry production and management considered an asset.
- Knowledge in poultry nutrition with the ability to provide both nutritional and management advice to producers is an asset.
- Creative and critical thinking skills, both for building diets and for troubleshooting on nutritional challenges.
- Strong communication skills to be able to provide technical and sales support to both internal team members and external producers. Able to translate technical information into easy-to-understand common terminology.
- Ability to work independently but also be an active member of a dynamic team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage pressure and short deadlines, and prioritize according to importance, urgency, risk, etc.
- Excited to learn and work with new technologies and innovations.
- Excellent attention to detail and methodical work habits.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, formulation software, NutriOpt, etc.
- Ability to travel within the region and on occasion out of province.
